The Festival takes place from Jan. 19-21, 2018. The event occurs at the Colorado County Fairgrounds. You have several camping options. Each participant must make their own Campground reservations. Blythe is about 4 hours and 261 miles from Sun City Oro Valley.
For those that expressed an interest in dry camping, you can:
Dry camp nearer Quartzsite, on BLM land, no reservations needed and attend the Bluegrass events easily from there. Tickets to the Festival for all 3 days is $45. Single day tickets are not available.
Dry camp at the Colorado County Fairgrounds. The nightly rate for camping all 4 nights (18, 19, 20 and 21) is $60 total. Together with the Festival admission tickets ($40 PP) would be $140 per couple (including dry camping). Marlys and I have stayed at the Fairgrounds and loved it because we could easily walk to the venue. Food is available at the Fairgrounds. Please make your Fairground reservations ASAP. No dump station at the Fairgrounds so come in with sufficient water and holding tanks empty for the 4 nights. They offer No refunds. Their website is: Blythebluegrass.com. The Chamber of Commerce runs the event and you can reserve via their telephone number which is 760-922-8166
For those who prefer a private campground, the Hidden Beaches River Resortis recommended by members who have stayed there. They are located on the north end of Blythe. They have 2 rates. One rate is $32 and the second is $39 which is nearest to the river. Because there are limitations as to sewer locations, the river sites are electric and water only sites. The other sites ($32) are full hookups. Their "pull throughs" are all 50 amp. Other sites are 30amp. There is a 3 night minimum because the Bluegrass Festival brings in a lot of RVers. Dry camping is available here for $5/night and water only sites are available for $10/night. Their website is: http://www.hiddenbeachesresort.com/ Their phone number is 760.922.7276. I would make your reservations ASAP. They also do not provide refunds.
Information about the Quartzsite Camping and RV Show can be found on their website which is: quartzsitervshow.com. Here you can join the other 149,999 RVers that attend this event. The Largest RV Show in theWorld. There are vendors galore and opportunities to have any RV service you could want or need. Free admission is advertised on the website mentioned above. This event runs from Jan. 20-28. From Quartzsite, AZ to Blythe it is only 23 minutes, 22 miles so it is certainly possible to stay near Quartzsite and still attend the Bluegrass Festival.
OK! Those are your choices. We'd really appreciate if you would give us a "heads up" after you've made your reservations via email at imluvinazsun@aol.com. We will be in Mexico City for Thanksgiving, leaving Tuesday, Nov. 21, returning late on Nov. 25.
