It’s only a few months before the races.  I've done a lot of calling and found the perfect place to park our RVs. It's located within the Grand Sierra Resort. According to the person I spoke to at the Air Races Association, there are shuttle buses that take folks to the main gate multiple times a day both to and from. The park can accommodate big rigs and small fries like ours. To make a reservation,  call the hotel reservations desk at 800-501-2651. Reservation line is available 24/7.
The Reno Air Races are the premier event of air racing held each year at Stead Field. This will be the 55th year and a great week of competition. There are several classes of aircraft competing; from biplanes to jets. In addition, the famous Patriots Jet aerobatic group and the Air Force F-16 and F-35 demonstrations will perform. There are still plenty of spaces left at the campground where we will be staying. But come June, they will start to fill up as the busy season for them is August and September. One of the criteria for choosing this campground was access to a shuttle bus to and from Stead Field. No issues with parking. If you want to join us the number to call is 800-501-2651. 2018 Air Race Dates are: Arrive Tuesday Sept 11th and depart Monday the 17th.

Qualification runs occur on the Wed, Thurs, and Friday. Air shows and demos on Saturday and finals on Sunday.
Note: You certainly don't have to spend that many days though.  I'm thinking of doing the entire time Tues to Mon. If you change your mind, you can always call and change your reservation dates at the RV Resort.  Better to secure your site for the whole time and then cancel dates, if needed.

RV Park rates--Expect to pay $50 to $60/night for a 50 amp pull thru and $35 to $50 for a back in 30 ft. The rates vary during the Air Races, approaching maximum as the races progress.

We can figure out other details for events, pit passes and static displays after we get our RV spaces secured.
Once we get the reservations in we can move forward with more planning.
